A Life Rooted in Service, Built by Enterprise

Buddi Subedi was raised in Chitwan with ancestral roots in Syangja. His first professional posting took him far from home: Principal of Satyadevi Secondary School in Kalikot, one of Nepal's most remote and under-resourced districts, where running a school meant solving transport, staffing and funding problems at the same time.

He continued studying while he worked, completing I.Sc. Forestry, B.Com, M.Ed, an MBA and an LL.B., and is today a PhD candidate. That academic record moved him into higher education as a lecturer at Tribhuvan University's Minbhawan Campus and Jitpur Campus, teaching commerce and management to students who would themselves become professionals across Nepal.

In 2003, while still lecturing at TU, he received a Diversity Visa and moved to the United States. Like most first-generation migrants, he began again from the bottom — long shifts, unfamiliar systems and a new language of business — before moving into ownership.

Over two decades in Wisconsin he built a portfolio exceeding $100 million: franchise hotels operating under Hyatt, Hampton by Hilton, Holiday Inn and Wyndham, and supermarket chains serving Midwest neighbourhoods. He then took that capital home, becoming a major investor in the five-star Tiger Palace Resort in Bhairahawa — one of the most visible diaspora investments in Nepali tourism.

Community service ran in parallel. He founded the NRNA Wisconsin Chapter in 2010, served as President of NRNA USA from 2021 to 2023 — buying the organisation's first permanently owned headquarters and dispatching over NPR 3.6 crore of oxygen concentrators and medical equipment during COVID-19 — then served as General Secretary of NRNA ICC from 2023 to 2025.

Elected Vice President of NRNA ICC for 2025–2027, he now works on fiscal transparency, citizenship by descent, and welfare structures for Nepali workers in the Gulf and Malaysia. He lives in Appleton, Wisconsin.
